Job Description
Substitute Teacher Position Summary WEECare Preschool is seeking dependable, flexible, and caring Substitute Teachers to support our classrooms and provide consistent care and instruction when regular staff members are absent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for flexible, as-needed work while making a meaningful impact in the lives of children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide safe, nurturing care and instruction for children ages 2-5 in the absence of the regular teacher. Support before- and after-school programming for school-age children as needed. Follow established lesson plans, daily schedules, classroom routines, and expectations. Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities that support cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth. Maintain active supervision and a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment. Assist with daily care routines, including meals, toileting, handwashing, rest periods, transitions, and outdoor play. Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment. Communicate professionally with children, families, teachers, and administration as needed. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and program information. Follow all WEECare policies, procedures, and applicable childcare licensing requirements. Communicate promptly regarding availability, scheduling changes, or absences. Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork when supporting different classrooms, age groups, and program needs. Working collaboratively with the teaching team and contributing positively to the WEECare community.QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Reliable, dependable, and available to work on short notice as needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to different teaching styles, classroom routines, and age groups. CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and applicable childcare licensing requirements.Preferred:
Associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Previous experience working with preschool-age children (ages 2-5) and/or school-age children.
