May substitute for one day or for a longer term absence; may follow lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, or work with teacher who will be out to create new lesson plans and assignments.

To maintain a safe, orderly environment and high level of student learning when the regular teacher is absent.
Qualifications :
Non-certified subs must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Forty-eight credit hours or college degree preferred. Experience working with children preferred. Certified subs must have a bachelor's degree in education with a teaching license. Long Term subs must have an active North Carolina teaching license in the area of the long term assignment. References must include your current or most recent supervisor . Additional requirements after the pre-screening process is completed include a criminal background check and principal interview, which we can help you set up if assistance is needed. Once offered and accepting a position as an NHCS Substitute candidates will complete fingerprinting and online NHCS Substitute Training and Effective Teacher Training if you do not have a teaching license.
