Chautauqua County Civil Service Application Job Description:

The Substitute Teacher provides temporary instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Responsibilities include managing classroom behavior, delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment, and ensuring continuity of instruction. The Substitute Teacher must follow school policies and work under the guidance of school administration and/or certified staff when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise students in a classroom setting. Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher. Manage student behavior and ensure classroom order. Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. Report attendance, incidents, or concerns to appropriate staff. Follow district and school policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and Associate's Degree (minimum). Ability to follow instructions and adapt to various classroom settings. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Background check and fingerprint clearance (as required by the district).
