On-call Preschool/Elementary/Middle School Substitute Teacher Job Type On-Call New York, NY • Pine Street School Starting September 2026, hiring ongoing Green Ivy Schools is hiring Substitute Teachers to work as on-call subs for the 2026-2027 school year. Pine Street School, located at 25 Pine Street and 156 Williams, is just a short walk from the iconic landmarks of Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange, and Federal Hall. The school offers Spanish and Mandarin immersion programs for children from one year old through Middle School. In our Preschool, Montessori-trained educators nurture each child's social, emotional, cognitive, academic, and physical development, promoting independence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills. Starting in Preschool Threes, students engage with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, which encourages them to ask questions, think critically, explore in-depth inquiries, and develop a well-rounded understanding of the world.
ABOUT YOU
You are knowledgeable about the IB and/or Montessori curriculum and philosophy and are able to successfully employ effective teaching practices. If you are not IB and/or Montessori credentialed, you are willing and eager to learn about it. You enjoy collaborating with fellow teachers and are willing to heed direction and feedback from them You are dedicated to internationalism and anti-bias teaching practices and maintain a positive school culture for everyone in the community You have exceptional communication skills with students and teachers and have a nurturing, supportive approach You are trustworthy flexible, and dependable
ROLE OF THE IB AND/OR MONTESSORI TEACHER
Create welcoming, functional, safe, attractive, de-cluttered, stimulating and physically comfortable learning environments May assist children during bathroom or hygiene-related activities (Preschool only) Work with and follow the team's guidelines with regards to classroom schedule, activities, and norms Step in for teachers that are absent and follow the guidance of the other teachers in the classroom or of the
Parent Liaison Requirements:
Montessori and/or IB teaching experience preferred
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field (Masters preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience Fluent in English (able to successfully attend workshops, read professional information and work collaboratively in the language.) Legally authorized to work now and in the future in the United States
