Job Description
Academic Aide Multiple Locations Dayton, Kettering Fairborn, Huber Heights, Xenia, Wilmington Englewood, Eaton, Germantown, New Lebanon, Stillwater, Vandalia Miamisburg, Springboro, West Carrollton New Bremen Part-Time/Non-Exempt $14.00-18.00/Hour Y School Age programming is held in several school districts. This position is open to Paraprofessionals who are currently employed and maintain employment in a hosting school district.
Position Summary:
Assists in planning, development, and implementation of all classroom activities during before and after school care. The Academic Aide is responsible for ensuring the children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being in the program. Safety and the wellbeing of the children is a first priority. Assist with monitoring students during lunch and recess for approximately 2 hours, when available, during the school day or at an alternate YMCA location as needed. Assists in the implementation of weekly lesson plans that fit the children's needs, interests, and developmental levels in the classroom. Works cooperatively with YMCA leadership and other classroom staff. Documents attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines, and incidents for each child in the classroom and communicates to ensure children are accounted for. Is responsible for all aspects of the appearance and management of their classroom/designated program/outside areas. Maintains the quality of supplies, materials, and equipment in the room in a neat and orderly fashion. Returns used spaces better than found. Reports any broken or unsafe toys or equipment and properly disinfects toys and equipment on a regular basis in accordance with the state regulations. Conducts the program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) & corresponding Ohio Department of Education (ODE) guidelines. Effectively communicates verbal and written reports to the Lead Teacher. Possesses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follows proper reporting procedures. Monitors and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the childcare and program area. Attends scheduled staff meetings, staff activities and ongoing trainings. Attends in-service training events as required by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regulations, continued professional development through community involvement, reading and/or further education. Remains familiar with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), or the National After School Association (NAA) accreditation requirements and completes required documentation in accordance with Center requirements. Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up. Will have the opportunity to work summer months/Day Camp. Protects confidential information regarding program participants, families, and staff members.Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED Required. Paraprofessional Certification or similar certification required. Six months experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred.Similar jobs in New Lebanon, OH
