About us Villa Maria Cathedral Preparatory Catholic School System, VMCPCSS, in the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania is committed to understanding and living by Catholic core values and the Gospel truth. We offer a unique combination of learning experiences with a 100% philanthropic-funded mission elementary school (kindergarten through 8th grade) and Christ-centered, coeducational, college preparatory high school (grades 9-12). We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable long-term middle school English Substitute Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 School Year The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a desire to embrace the mission of our school, and a high standard for academic excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating lesson plans, grading assignments, and providing feedback to students. The Substitute English Teacher will also be expected to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, fellow faculty members, and administration. Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with a department team, focused on student achievement and developing data-driven interventions. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction to address departmental standards. Prepare lessons, grade student work, maintain digital gradebook, use school software, and program coordination. Communicate effectively with families. Be present at all staff meetings, retreats, and school events/celebrations. Assist with vigilance at school assemblies, prayer services, mass, and other class or school gatherings. Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education - English PA Certification in English (Grades 7-12) (can be in process) Must be able to obtain Act 34, 114, 151, and 168 clearances before hire. Be able to support the mission of the school.
Preferred Qualifications:
Be a practicing Catholic Master's Degree in education or content area
