Job Description
Job Overview Join our vibrant educational community as a K-12 Substitute Teacher and make a meaningful difference in students' lives! In this dynamic role, you will step into classrooms across various grade levels, delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a positive learning environment. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School is a Bureau of Indian Education school on the Cheyenne River reservation serving roughly 829 students, K-12, across four sites on one campus: the Elementary, Junior High, E.A.G.L.E. Center, and High School. We are building a bench of substitute teachers to provide coverage when regular teachers are out. Work is intermittent. The school calls, and if you are available, you take the day.
Location:
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School, 122 E Street, Eagle Butte, SD 57625Schedule:
On-call, Monday through Friday, typically 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM What the job looks like: Cover classrooms across different grade levels and subjects when regular teachers are away Deliver both direct and indirect instruction based on the plans left for the day Work with students anywhere from kindergarten through 12th grade depending on the assignment Sign in and out daily with security and report to the school contact on arrival and departure Complete the annualBIE Information Technology Security Training Requirements:
U.S. citizen At least one year of experience in a K-12 setting One of the following: a bachelor's degree or higher, OR an associate's degree or 60 completed semester hours, OR a valid, unexpired teaching certificate in any field from any state Able to pass a federal background check and fingerprinting, and cooperate fully and promptly with the investigation process Current immunizations: MMR, Tdap or current Td booster, Polio, and an annual negative TB test Able to work on-site inEagle Butte Preferred:
- Experience working in Bureau-operated schools
- Experience working in tribal or reservation schools
- Experience serving Indigenous communities
