Established in 1983, Concord serves students with a variety of learning, behavioral, and developmental needs. We are committed to helping students build the skills and confidence necessary to succeed both in and out of the classroom. The Substitute Teacher steps in when the regular Teacher is absent. They are primarily responsible for following the lesson plans already created by the Teacher, to support the learning outcomes for the class. In addition to instruction, the Substitute Teacher monitors and reports on student behavior and maintains a positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate, ask questions and generally receive the individual attention they need to effectively learn the material in the lesson plan. Occasional and long-term assignments may be available. This contracted, part-time position reports to the Principal.

JOB DUTIES

Follow regular teacher's lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree Teaching license with SPED endorsement preferred Teaching or instructing experience with special populations (3 or more years preferred) Strong command of English language Strong competency in at least two subject areas (such as math and social studies); overall average competency in all subjects Flexible, friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students Must be able to skillfully navigate complex and nuanced situations.
