An Ambleside Substitute Teacher is first and foremost a lover of Jesus Christ, children, and knowledge. The Substitute Teacher steps into the classroom with a positive, joyful, and peacefully authoritative presence while faithfully carrying out the plans and expectations of the Classroom Teacher.
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and joyful learning environment; supervising and shepherding students; facilitating assigned lessons and activities; and upholding Ambleside's standards for student work, conduct, attentiveness, and respect. The Substitute Teacher should warmly engage students while encouraging "the habits of the good life" in their work and relationships.
The Substitute Teacher represents Ambleside School of Waco professionally and warmly when interacting with students, parents, teachers, staff, and visitors. The Substitute Teacher reports to the Head of School and works under the direction of the Classroom Teacher. Personal Qualities Ambleside seeks Substitute Teachers who are spiritually mature in Christ and service-oriented, teachable, loving toward children, joyful, peaceful in/under authority, patient, dependable, flexible, attentive, organized, punctual, collegial, and able to lead students with warmth and appropriate authority. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and support Ambleside's mission and Charlotte Mason philosophy.
