Job Description

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

•AFTER

SCHOOL PROGRAM

Discovery Bay Center | Part-Time | $25

•29/hr DOE Are you someone who loves spending time with kids and has a flexible schedule? We're looking for a warm, dependable substitute teacher to join our small, community-based after school program.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We need someone who can step in when our teachers need coverage, whether that's a planned day off or an unexpected sick day. This is a great fit for someone exploring a career in education or an experienced teacher looking for meaningful part-time work.

SCHEDULE

Regular availability: Wednesdays, 12:30 pm

•5:30 pm On-call coverage: as needed when teachers are out or for planned absences

•flexible to work with your schedule November block: November 16-25 (~6 hours per day)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead or assist with students in grades K-5 Facilitate free play, creative projects, and structured activities. Supervise children at our site and nearby outdoor spaces. Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Collaborate with our experienced teaching team

ABOUT US

Discovery Bay is a small, community-based after-school program based at Magnolia Presbyterian Church. We spend a lot of time outdoors at nearby parks. We believe in the importance of free play, belonging, creativity, and social-emotional growth. We keep our ratios small on purpose: Grades K-2: 1 teacher to 8 students Grades 3-5: 1 teacher to 10 students. We're a close-knit team of seasoned educators who would love to welcome someone new, whether you're just starting out in education or have years of experience we can all learn from. www.discoverybaycenter.org

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Genuine love for working with children Flexible and reliable — able to respond when coverage is needed Comfortable leading a group or supporting a lead teacher Interest in education, child development, or mentorship Experience in childcare, education, or youth programs is a plus — all backgrounds welcome PAY $25

•29 per hour, depending on experience
