SUMMARY:
The Dyslexia Instructional Para-Educator will work under the supervision of a Reading Specialist to deliver instruction to scholars identified as having characteristics of dyslexia, providing them with individualized support to help them succeed academically and develop strategies to overcome challenges associated with dyslexia.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with dyslexia, reinforcing concepts identified by the Reading Specialist. Assist students in developing and implementing strategies to improve reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension skills. Collaborate with Reading Specialists to modify instructional materials and lesson plans to meet the needs of students with dyslexia. Track student progress and communicate regularly with the Reading Specialist. Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and strategies for supporting students with dyslexia. Adhere to all District and Board policies Performs other duties assigned
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree or higher, successful Para Pro Assessment Exam or 60 college credits and/or experience in the field related to working with students.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of pre-employment background checks. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other staff members and the general public.
