Job Summary:
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instructional and classroom support for Special Education students during an extended teacher absence. This role ensures continuity of instruction by implementing lesson plans, supporting IEP goals, and creating a structured, supportive learning environment aligned with Victory Autism Academy (VAA) standards and state and federal requirements.
Essential Functions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements lesson plans and provides instruction to students with disabilities. Supports and documents progress toward IEP goals as directed. Maintains confidentiality in compliance with FERPA. Manages classroom behavior and creates a learning environment appropriate to student needs. Maintains required student records and documentation. Collaborates with support staff, service providers, and administration. Supervises assigned support staff. Attends required meetings and trainings. Follows all VAA policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities. Understanding of accommodations, modifications, and behavior support strategies. Ability to follow written lesson plans and directions. Skill in de-escalating challenging behaviors. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Arizona Substitute Teaching Certificate or Special Education Teaching Certificate preferred . Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
Other Requirements:
Ability to pass fingerprint and background clearance checks. Ability to complete CPR, First Aid, CPI, and required VAA trainings. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and respond to student safety needs, including elopement. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as needed.
