Job Description

Position Title:
Life Coach/Mentor/College Aide W2 payroll position requiring a background check and live scan to get onboarded.
Estimated Hours/Schedule:
Currently need someone for summer: ASAP! Can hire 2 hours flexible hours daily part time to start immediately (i.e. Sat. 4-6; Sun. 10-12). (Please note: availability to cover client's classes to start: 8/24/26 will be required).
School schedule:
Monday/Wed. 10:30-1:30 & T/Th 12:40-2:40
Ideal Start Date:
ASAP or August 24!
Compensation:
$26-30 per hour + mileage reimbursement at federal rate.
Location:
Client's house Altadena, 91001, Pasadena City College, 91106 or PCC Extension, Foothill Bl., Pasadena, CA, community destinations in local area. Welding class might have a protective coat to wear, casual clothes, work boots. This job requires the care provider to transport client to and from home and school. Must own a reliable vehicle as well as have a valid DL and clean driving record. 2 references
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experiece:
Neuro-affirming, intuitive, not shaming, easygoing temperament, high affect, engaging, positive redirection skills. Capable of scaffolding client, tutoring of subject areas need practice, reinforcement. Good routine setting, followthrough, request 2 weeks advance notice if leaving or late. Punctuality to client's house to transport client to college/work/class/doctor or community services is essential. Knowledge of autism, reactive attachment disorder, FASD, ADHD. Knowledge of Pasadena area, PCC campus map, how to teach someone with developmental delays life skills, ie. basic cooking, laundry washing, cue them to personal hygiene practices, housekeeping, organizing work areas, creating a system of organizing work and living areas that's sustainable. Help with personal finances, accounting for funds using a phone app. Building delayed gratification and independence and interdependence goals. Teach consent, personal responsibility, teach how reciprocity between people operates. Supervise client's medications, driving to appointments, classes. Help client prioritize tasks, prepare materials, knapsack, meals. Able to circle back to client after an event, upset, class to seek client's thoughts, feelings with kindness, curiosity, compassion, feedback, observations. "What do you think went well? What would help next time? How do you like to work? I like how you took care of yourself and took a break..." Open mind, life experience welcome, resourcefulness, patience to re-teach multiple times, reinforce basic math, directions, teach abstract concepts, generalize concepts to other areas, teach left, right. Client will mask to be likes, needs help learning personal advocacy, not giving up, cleaning up, taking responsibility for one's area.
Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
