Job Description
Job Title Teaching Assistant Employee Duties & Responsibilities Upholds the school's belief in fairness and equity in education by demonstrating awareness and respect for all students with regard to sex, sexual identity, religion, race, color, national and ethnic origin. The assistant teacher at Bayhill School provides assistance to teachers and direct guidance to students in a variety of subjects. Assistant Teachers are an integral part of Bayhill's structured academic program utilizing technology, multi-sensory learning, individualized support and accommodations. The Assistant Teacher will be able to follow the guidance of the classroom teacher in providing one-to-one or small group assistance to students. Priority will be given to applicants interested in pursuing a career in education.
Duties:
Follow the lead teacher, aid individuals and small groups in understanding and completing assignments and learning content material Participate in discussions, as requested by lead teacher Actively engage in lessons, so as to be able to assist students Work collaboratively with the lead teacher, maintaining positive communication Substitute for absent teachers Employee technology in accordance with teacher and school expectations (specifically Jupiter Ed., Google Apps for Education, and other assistive technology). Demonstrate curiousity about common learning differences (dyslexia, ADHD, Executive Functioning, dyslexia, Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism level 1) Maintain a firm, fair, and consistent approach to the instruction of students and promote student involvement by reinforcing positive behaviors. Ensure the rights of students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate respectful communication with fairness and equity. Project a positive role model image for students and colleagues by participating as a team member, cooperating with staff, demonstrating compromise and appropriate expression of opinions; by attending staff meetings as required; by actively participating in all other school related activities/functions, to include clubs, extracurricular activities, and school events (school picnic, Back to School Night, Open House, etc.) Utilize chain-of-command in all aspects of program and follows Staff Procedures and Expectations Manual. Maintain appropriate relationships with the students by treating students in a respectful manner at all times, by eliciting students interest cooperation, and by maintaining appropriate boundaries. Maintain confidentiality of all student records per program guidelines.Pay:
