General Description:
students, small groups of students. T o assist the teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with individualQualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and experience in working with children
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
- Satisfactory completion of the District employee's minimum competency test and/or equivalent
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students (within the legal limits)
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interest and abilities
- Assignment may include General Education and or Special Education as needs arise
- Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher
- Checks notebooks, supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher
- Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud and storytelling
- Assist teachers with running records
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher
- Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student
- Intervention- one on one mentor
- Participates in in-service training as assigned by the superintendent
- Understanding and/or working knowledge of school technology
- Performs other related duties as required
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all employees
- Yard duty and cafeteria monitoring
