General Description:

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and experience in working with children
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
  • Satisfactory completion of the District employee's minimum competency test and/or equivalent
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administers scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students (within the legal limits)
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interest and abilities
  • Assignment may include General Education and or Special Education as needs arise
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher
  • Checks notebooks, supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher
  • Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud and storytelling
  • Assist teachers with running records
  • Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher
  • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student
  • Intervention- one on one mentor
  • Participates in in-service training as assigned by the superintendent
  • Understanding and/or working knowledge of school technology
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all employees
  • Yard duty and cafeteria monitoring
Evaluation:
Rev 01/06/22 Performance of this position will be evaluated annually
