Permanent, Full-Time, Term Time Only Start Your Career in Education as a Trainee Teaching Assistant Simply Education is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting supporting young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs . You'll be joining a supportive specialist environment where young people are encouraged to build confidence, develop independence and achieve their potential both academically and personally. Your Role as a Trainee Teaching Assistant Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will help pupils engage with their learning, develop positive relationships and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. You'll receive guidance and support as you develop your skills and experience, making this an ideal opportunity if you are looking to take your first step into a career in education or SEND.

Your responsibilities will include:

Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with pupils. Supporting young people with their learning, wellbeing and personal development. Working alongside the Class Teacher to support lessons and classroom activities. Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive behaviour. Helping to create a safe, caring and engaging learning environment. Supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each young person. Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals. Completing relevant records and documentation under the guidance of experienced colleagues. Supporting the wider day-to-day running of the school when required. What We're Looking For You do not need previous Teaching Assistant or school experience to be considered for this trainee opportunity. We're looking for someone who: Has a genuine interest in working with children and young people. Is patient, caring, resilient and approachable. Can build positive and professional relationships with young people. Is willing to learn and develop within a specialist education environment. Can remain calm and positive when faced with challenging situations. Understands the importance of putting the individual needs of the child first. Is creative and flexible in their approach.
