Job Summary Job Summary As needed, Under general supervision of the site principal or designee, assist the Special and/or General Education Teacher(s) in the preparation and delivery of materials for the delivery of curriculum to individuals and small groups of students with specialized learning needs; monitor progress of students; provide safe and constant supervision of students during recess and at other times as assigned by the site principal; and do related work as assigned. Assist with Positive Behavioral Support (PBS). Paraeducator - Special Education are distinguished from a Paraeducator primarily by the relative independence of action and intensity of the instructional requirements outlined in a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Following training in specific programs and techniques, the Paraeducator-Special Education typically works directly with students according to a highly structured plan. The behavioral and instructional components of the program are often individualized and require precise adherence. It is essential that individuals who occupy these positions be able to adapt to the particular educational needs of the student(s).
