Individuals range from high-functioning and independent to non-verbal and those requiring more hands-on support. As a Personal Assistant, you'll help participants build independence, develop life skills, enjoy community activities, and achieve personal goals while providing families with valuable respite and peace of mind. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support in the home and community Assist participants with daily living skills and personal goals Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction Plan and participate in community outings and recreational activities Transport participants to appointments, classes, work, or community events Assist with household chores, meal preparation, laundry, organization, and grocery shopping while providing quality support to participants and giving families valuable respite Provide companionship, encouragement, and positive behavioral support Assist with personal care when needed, depending on the participant's level of support Complete daily documentation and communicate with supervisors as needed Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or GED Valid California driver's license Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance Clean driving record Eligible to work in the United States Able to pass a Live Scan background check Reliable, punctual, and professional Strong communication and interpersonal skills Compassionate, patient, and adaptable Preferred Experience Experience is helpful but not required. We welcome applicants with experience as a: Direct Support Professional (DSP) Caregiver Personal Assistant Behavioral Technician or ABA Therapist Respite Worker Home Care Aide Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Special Education Aide Paraprofessional Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, behavioral challenges, or communication differences is a plus.
