  • Partner) is a nonprofit early childcare organization dedicated to providing safe, nurturing, and engaging environments for infants (3 months) to 5-year-olds.
Our staff bring warmth, patience, and understanding to the classroom every day, encouraging children to learn and grow through social, physical, verbal, and cognitive development. We inspire lifelong learners and know that meaningful relationships with children, families, and team members are key to our success. We are hiring for both Teacher and Teacher Assistant roles. Both positions require implementing LEAP's curriculum in a way that meets each child's unique needs, creating a safe and nurturing environment, partnering with parents to provide the best care and education, supporting LEAP's goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement, and cultivating positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and partners. Shared Responsibilities (All Positions) Participate in diaper changing and toileting routines as needed, ensuring proper hygiene and sanitation procedures are followed; promote toilet training when developmentally appropriate. Monitor and communicate regarding diaper supplies and additional needs. Effectively and positively discipline children using approved methods: redirection, giving choices, reflecting feelings, and setting limits. Maintain an attractive, safe, and interesting environment for children in the classroom and on the playground, following the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale guidelines. Ensure the classroom complies with the State of California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division preschool regulations. Work with other staff to maintain records for each child, including DRDP, ASQs, attendance, special needs, meal participation, and emergency information. Maintain open, informative, and respectful communication with parents. Foster warm and open interactions between children and staff. Make continual efforts to provide individual attention and differentiated instruction to each child. Attend and participate in bi-weekly staff meetings, teacher meetings, conferences, and workshops. Coordinate to ensure each parent receives personal notes about their child at least twice per month. Conduct or collaborate on assessments using the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), following all Title V requirements; observe children and prepare anecdotal notes, work samples, and photographs to document assessment. Coordinate or support a minimum of two parent-teacher conferences per calendar year per child. Teacher-Specific Duties Plan and facilitate age-appropriate curriculum for children and post lesson plans weekly. Supervise teacher assistants in the classroom; delegate appropriate duties and tasks to teacher assistants and work-study workers. Teacher Assistant-Specific Duties Assist the teacher in planning and facilitating age-appropriate curriculum for children and posting lesson plans weekly; help set up the classroom before and after activities. Assist and guide work-study workers and volunteers per teacher direction. Qualifications (Both Positions) Must hold or be eligible for appropriate California Child Development Permit (
Teacher:
at least Associate Teacher Permit;
Teacher Assistant:
Assistant Teacher Permit or equivalent). Experience in early childhood education preferred; passion for working with children and families required. Knowledge of Title 22 licensing regulations and DRDP assessments. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to pass background check, TB test (negative), and vaccines. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience, ECE education units, and/or permit level.
Compensation for Teacher Assistant range:
$20.50 - $24 per hour ; Teacher range: $25 - $31 per hour. Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 403(b) with match, paid time off, and professional development scholarships.
