LAFAYETTE SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE

• CLASSROOM

DEFINITION

A part-time position under direction of the classroom teacher to perform a variety which assist the teacher in the performance of their classroom duties; assist in managing and directing student behavior; assist in providing a safe, pleasant, professional and educational atmosphere.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

„h Assist in classroom, playground and other activities. „h Monitor and assist students through classroom activities following presentation of instructional materials by the teacher. „h Perform a variety of clerical duties as required. „h Perform instructional related activities such as correcting tests and homework, preparing instructional materials for general and special needs, assisting the teacher in specialized demonstrations „h Perform generalized activities such as maintaining and organizing student records, organizing classroom materials, preparing student work areas. „h Other duties as assigned.

ABILITY TO

„h Learn and utilize basic methods & procedures to be followed in instructional settings. „h Work effectively with children. „h Communicate satisfactorily in oral and written form. „h Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. „h Maintain calm and patience in stressful situations. „h Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information. „h Work under specific direction. „h Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. „h Organize and implement planned activities with supervision. „h Operate basic office equipment. „h Sit, stand, walk, lift objects of weight up to 50 lbs., push, pull, drag and grasp objects.

EXPERIENCE

„h At least one year of experience working, individually or in small groups, with children in an organized setting.

EDUCATION

„h A.A Degree or equivalent „h Valid California Motor Vehicle License Requirements / Qualifications

Compliance (48 college units, AA Degree, or passage of the District Paraprofessional exam.) Resume Experience working, individually or in small groups, with children in an organized setting. Willingness to attend pertinent training sessions and daily yard duty coverage.
