Position Overview:
As a Teacher's Aide at Sierra Foothills Academy, you will provide critical support to teachers and therapists in delivering high-quality instruction and care to students with moderate to severe disabilities. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and helping students develop essential academic, social, and life skills. This is an ideal position for individuals who enjoy working closely with children, are detail-oriented, and thrive in collaborative environments. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and engaging atmosphere that fosters growth and independence for our students.Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and individualized education programs (IEPs). Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as needed. Help students with daily living tasks, such as feeding, toileting, grooming, and mobility, when applicable. Reinforce positive behaviors and implement behavior management strategies under the guidance of teachers and specialists. Monitor and document student progress, including behavior observations and task completion. Support classroom routines, transitions, and activities to ensure a smooth and productive day. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to meet students' unique needs. Adapt materials and assistive technology to accommodate diverse learners. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Build strong relationships with students, encouraging trust, confidence, and motivation. Attend training sessions, meetings, and professional development opportunities as required. Writes clearly and competently when documenting incidents/accidents. Assists with providing medication to students, as needed. With guidance, assists in providing crisis interactions. Provides coverage in other working areas as needed. Ability to operate a school van with students . Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
High school Diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in education, psychology, child development, or related field is a plus. Prior experience working with children or adults with special needs is preferred but not required. Strong understanding of behavioral and developmental challenges faced by students with disabilities. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. Ability to follow instructions, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical ability to assist students with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring if necessary. Valid California drivers license. Takes pride in being reliable and dependable at work. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) are highly desirable but not required. Must pass a background check and fingerprint clearance. Fulltime positionSchedule:
Monday-Friday 7am-3pm (depending on availability) 200 days (180 regular school days and 20 extended school days)Benefits :
