BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom; Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, behavior, social and community skills. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and at least two years experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities; AND one of the following: possession of an Associate's degree or higher, at least 48 college semester units or pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam.
CERTIFICATE REQUIRED
This position requires the SCOE Para Proficiency certificate OR one of the following:
NCLB/ESSA
certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing minimum 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded.
