Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
MUST HAVE
the required 12 ECE units per licensing. Montessori Training a plus! Minimum of 2 years of experience as a teacher required. Pay is based on experience and verified education
Responsibilities:
This person must be (or in the process of being) professionally prepared to be a teacher of young children
  • have a degree in ECE or related field, a Montessori intern, or be Montessori training certified.
Description :
The Montessori Support Teacher is to assist the Lead Guide in maintaining an orderly, smoothly functioning environment, indoors and outdoors, so that the Guide can give lessons and oversee the children's work. The support teacher is to report to the Lead Guide for his or her work assignments or directions daily. This is a full time position that includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following essential job duties : Dedication to the support of the work of the Guide is the basic attitude needed for an effective support teacher. Protect the integrity of the lessons given by the Guide by redirecting children and preventing interruptions. Respond to direction from the Guide to assist or intervene with children as needed. Treat all children with dignity and respect and in a manner that supports their independence. A well modulated voice, friendly tone and positive phrasing of directives with children is expected. Work with individual and small groups of children as directed by the
Guide:
singing, reading, outdoor classroom, baking, gardening, carpentry. Supervise classroom according to Guide's direction, generally maintaining a calm, non-distracting presence. Observe children's behavior and activity as directed by Guide and communicate appropriately. Directly responsible for dusting and cleaning the environment, refilling supplies, photocopying and proper storage of all classroom supplies. Assist Guide in the responsibility of care and maintenance of classroom materials, i.e. maintaining an orderly environment, keeping it clean and in like-new condition as directed Assist in the preparation of curriculum materials/material making as directed. Repair materials and apparatus as necessary or directed. Help with the maintenance of the inventory of the classroom. Help with the maintenance of current, accurate classroom records. Share the responsibility and supervision of the children during free play times, lunch and rest periods. Help maintain safe, appropriate behavior and safe, orderly use of playground materials and equipment. Facilitate appropriate conflict resolution between children. Report any and all accidents at once to the Guide. Prepare a written "ouch report" stating date, time, nature of accident, and action taken to be delivered to parents. Maintain appropriate professionalism in communication with families. Refer all inquiries about a child's behavior, along with all comments and concerns expressed by parents, to the Guide or Administration. Assist in delivering communication to parents in the absence of the Guide while alerting Guide or Administration of any concerns. Supervise children in the execution of safety drills. The routine is to be clearly established and the building excited with dispatch and order. Assist with other projects, programs and planning as assigned by the Administrator and/or supervisor
