Job Title:
Special Education Teacher
•Special Day Class (SDC) Moderate/Severe/ Extensive Support Needs (ESN).

Full-Time (35-40 hours per week)

Elementary School (Specialized focus on K-2)
Key Responsibilities
Individualized Instruction:
Design, adapt, and implement specialized lesson plans aligned with state standards to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students with extensive support requirements.
IEP Management:
Formulate, write, and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), establishing measurable goals, tracking student progress, and scheduling mandated review meetings.
Classroom Environment:
Maintain a highly structured, safe, and encouraging classroom space optimized for student engagement and behavioral support.
Collaboration:
Partner with general education teachers to champion inclusion practices, and coordinate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, administrators, and parents.
Team Supervision:
Guide and collaborate with classroom Paraeducators to ensure instructional modifications and personal care support are delivered consistently.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Credential:
Must hold an active California Education Specialist Credential in either Extensive Support Needs (ESN) or Moderate/Severe Disabilities.
Experience:
Prior experience working with elementary-aged children who present significant developmental, emotional, or physical disabilities is strongly preferred.
Competencies:
Strong classroom management capabilities, expertise in crisis intervention/de-escalation strategies, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
