BASIC FUNCTION
Under supervision, by the Assistant Director, to assist in the general supervision of students and/or activities including hallways, playgrounds, classrooms, campus perimeter, restrooms, parking lots and eating areas during and after school to enforce school rules and traffic control with regards to safety and student behavior; to provide routine assistance to the Directors with regards to student control for the safety and welfare of students; and to do related work as required by the school administration. Position hours are Monday
  • Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Candidate must be highly organized and responsible, work well with children grades TK-8 to ensure students are safe and supervised daily.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assists with general campus supervision during and after school assists in detention procedures; assists with supervision at school activities, and other extra curricular activities as assigned; assists in bus loading/unloading supervision; reports deviations in student conduct and infractions according to the rules and procedures prescribed by the school administration; assists with general attendance problems as assigned by the school administration; determine why students are out of class, check hallway passes, enforce student wearing vests, and the nature of their activities and direct or escort them as necessary; monitor and greet visitors on the campus to ensure that they are properly authorized.

Deal tactfully and effectively with students, staff, parents, and public; establish and implement consistent, firm and appropriate limits; maintaining boundaries with students; ability to facilitate and supervise primary & secondary students; strong communication and teamwork skills
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
  • Student behavior and characteristic;
  • Controlling and motivating students;
  • English and Spanish;
  • Routine record keeping practices;
  • General purposes and educational goals of the district;

Essential Elements:

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
  • Student behavior and characteristic;
  • Controlling and motivating students;
  • English and Spanish;
  • Routine record keeping practices;
  • General purposes and educational goals of the district;
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Possession of:
  • A California driver's license;
  • Adequate automobile insurance as prescribed by the District.
Ability to:
  • Learn to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedure;
  • Assume responsibility for supervising students;
  • Demonstrate good judgment in dealing with students;
  • Demonstrate patience, warmth and liking for students;
  • Maintain cooperative and effective relations with students, faculty and the general public.
EXPERIENCE
  • Prior experience in campus security.
Education:
  • Minimum requirement: High school diploma
  • Desired:
    two years of college supplemented with courses in psychology, guidance, police science or some closely related field
