Classroom Aide Job Description Organizational Overview:
- Under the supervision of the classroom teacher or other school staff, performs tasks to aid in the teaching general education and performs duties consistent with the job description. Duties may vary according to specific type of special education class.
- When assigned to the library, the aide works with students in a library setting and assists with the preparation and circulation of media materials, library books and supplies.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
(Depending on assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:)- Assists in the preparation and distribution of materials
- Reinforces classroom teacher's lessons using related audio visual and general office equipment
- Works individually or with small groups of students under the direction of the teacher; corrects student papers according to established guidelines
- Tabulates and records student grades
- Assists in administering standard testing programs
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training as required
- Assists with physical education and field trips
Qualifications:
Through knowledge of:- Fundamental understanding of English and general education principals Ability to:
- Relate to children and work cooperatively with other staff, parents and school community members in the course of daily responsibilities
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all matters relating to students
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly to students, staff and parents
- Operate required audio visual and general office equipment
- Use clerical and computer skills as required in the specific classroom setting.
Experience/Education:
