Length of Work Year Year-Round (Part-Time; Academic Year + Summer) Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary South Bay Educational Therapy (SBET) is seeking an exceptional Academic Specialist / Educational Therapist to join our growing private practice in Torrance. Our specialists provide individualized, one-to-one intervention for students with learning differences, including dyslexia, ADHD, executive-function challenges, and other academic needs. This is not traditional tutoring or homework help. Our work focuses on developing the underlying skills, strategies, and processes students need to become more capable and independent learners. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who combines strong academic instruction with an understanding of learning differences and individualized intervention. Experience in special education, structured literacy, executive functioning, reading intervention, writing, mathematics, or related areas is highly valued. Specialists work closely with SBET leadership, families, teachers, and schools while implementing individualized intervention plans and monitoring student progress. We are especially interested in current or former Education Specialists, special education teachers, interventionists, and experienced educators seeking meaningful part-time work outside the traditional classroom setting. Relevant advanced degrees and specialized training in educational therapy, special education, structured literacy, dyslexia intervention, executive functioning, reading, writing, or mathematics intervention are highly valued. Please include a current resume outlining your education and relevant professional experience. In your Letter of Interest, briefly describe your experience working with students with learning differences and what interests you about providing individualized, 1:1 intervention in a private educational therapy setting. Applicants with teaching credentials, educational therapy certification, structured literacy training, or other relevant specialized certifications are encouraged to include documentation with their application.
