https://www.leavenkids.org/employment Leaven Kids , a nonprofit organization headquartered in Fairfield, California, is seeking a Program Assistant to support our after-school learning centers in the Vallejo and Benicia areas . This position provides flexibility to assist at multiple Leaven Kids locations throughout Vallejo and Benicia based on program needs. The Program Assistant works alongside Site Directors to help maintain and operate established after-school programs serving at-risk elementary-age students in grades K-6. The ideal candidate has a passion for working with children, helping them overcome obstacles, and supporting their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Our centers operate four or five days per week between the hours of 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM . The Program Assistant is expected to contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment while serving as an ambassador of Leaven Kids within the community. Responsibilities Assist Site Directors with the daily operation of after-school programs serving elementary-age students. Support the implementation of educational programming that meets the developmental needs of the whole child, including spiritual, physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth. Provide academic support, homework assistance, and educational enrichment activities. Develop comfortable, trusting, and encouraging relationships with students and their families. Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment. Assist with student supervision, behavior management, and engagement during program activities. Support special events, community outreach efforts, and Leaven Kids activities as needed. Travel between Vallejo and Benicia program sites as assigned. Represent Leaven Kids professionally within schools, neighborhoods, and the broader community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with elementary-age children preferred. Experience in after-school programs, education, youth development, children's ministry, tutoring, mentoring, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of elementary educational practices and child development is a plus. Ability to engage, encourage, and positively interact with students from diverse backgrounds. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation and willingness to work at multiple program locations throughout Vallejo and Benicia. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Preferred Experience 1+ year of experience working with youth. Experience supporting educational or enrichment programs. Involvement in mentoring, coaching, or youth leadership activities. Active participation in community service, faith-based organizations, or youth-focused programs.
