Join Our Team as a Montessori Substitute Guide Shining Mountains Montessori School is seeking caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Substitute Guides to support our Montessori preschool program during the 2026-2027 school year. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young children, value outdoor learning, and are interested in Montessori education. Substitute Guides provide classroom support when regular staff are absent and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 2.5-6 years. About Shining Mountains Montessori School Shining Mountains Montessori School is a nonprofit Montessori school located in the heart of Buena Vista, Colorado. We serve children ages 2.5-6 years through a high-quality Montessori program that emphasizes independence, hands-on learning, respect, community, and a strong connection to the natural world. As a Colorado Shines Level 4 program, we are committed to providing exceptional early childhood education while supporting the families and workforce needs of Chaffee County.

On-Call Substitute Schedule:
School Year (2026-2027): On-call substitute opportunities throughout the academic year Typical hours fall between 8:30 AM and 3:30PM, Monday-Friday Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on qualifications and experience Responsibilities Supervise and engage children ages 2.5-6 years in classroom and outdoor environments Support Montessori Guides in maintaining a prepared learning environment Assist with daily classroom routines, transitions, meals, and outdoor activities Foster positive social interactions and respectful behavior Ensure the safety and well-being of all children Follow school policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety procedures Communicate professionally with staff and families Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and school operations Preferred Qualifications Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, camp, or educational setting Interest in Montessori philosophy and child-centered education Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt to different classroom environments Dependable, punctual, and professional Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent Ability to pass required background checks and Colorado licensing requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and actively engage with young children throughout the dayBenefits:
