Summer Youth Program Assistant — Part-time, Seasonal Green Village Initiative - 5.0 Bridgeport, CT Job Details Temporary | Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Bilingual Community engagement High school diploma or GED Gardening Working with children Farming Full Job Description Green Village Initiative (GVI) is a nonprofit in Bridgeport, CT whose mission is to grow food, knowledge, leadership, and community through urban gardening and farming to create a more just food system in Bridgeport. We operate Reservoir Community Farm, a 1.7-acre pesticide-free urban farm where we grow food and develop the next generation of community leaders. About the Role We are seeking a personable, reliable Youth Program Assistant to support the 2026 Youth Summer Leadership Program (YSLP) at Reservoir Community Farm. You will work directly alongside the Youth Program Coordinator to help guide and inspire a team of Bridgeport teens through an immersive summer of farming, food justice education, and leadership development. This is a part-time, seasonal position running late May through August 2026. What You Will Do Support daily operations of the Youth Summer Leadership Program under the direction of the Coordinator Facilitate or assist with workshops, field trips, team projects, and graduation activities Track attendance, support payroll, and collect program data Coordinate meals, materials, and logistics for program activities including field trips Support youth in daily farming and gardening tasks Build positive relationships with youth participants and model GVI's values Represent GVI positively at community events and engagements Schedule Late May to end of August 2026 Mid-June to August 15: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM (30-minute lunch) Additional hours may be required during peak season What We Are Looking For Experience working with youth and/or in agriculture Punctual, energetic, and reliable with a positive attitude Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical farmwork Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families, and community partners Reliable transportation to RCF, the GVI office, and local sites Commitment to food justice, equity, and GVI's mission Ability to work with minimal oversight while knowing when to ask for direction Bridgeport residents and bilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply Compensation and Perks Up to $22/hour based on experience, paid biweekly Fresh pesticide-free vegetables to take home GVI branded shirt, sun hat, and water bottle BGT bus passes Leadership and agricultural training
