Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as a dedicated paraprofessional supporting students across both elementary and middle school settings near Waterbury, CT. This full-time, onsite position consists of 35 hours per week, with a schedule from 8:45AM to 3:45PM, beginning as soon as possible and running through June 11, 2027. Each morning will be spent working 1:1 with a student at the elementary level, followed by afternoons serving another student at the middle school level. This rewarding role is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in American Sign Language (ASL), supporting children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH), and those familiar with special education (SPED) environments.
Key Qualifications:
Certification in ASL is required (must be provided at the time of application) Experience working with D/HH students and use of ASL in academic or support settings Previous paraprofessional experience, especially with children in SPED programs Willingness and ability to provide toileting and diapering assistance as needed High school diploma required Comfortable working 1:1 with students of varying abilities and needs All district-required background checks and paperwork must be completed
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized support to assigned students throughout the school day Implement communication, educational, and behavioral strategies as outlined by student plans Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and other support staff Assist students in navigating daily routines, activities, and personal care tasks This contract offers a unique chance to make a difference every day by empowering students to reach their full potential.
