Qualifications:
In order to meet the paraprofessional job qualifications, you must meet one of the following criteria: Associate Degree or higher Completion of 60 college credit hours with a ‘C' or better Passing test score on the ParaPro or Pathways Assessment & official high school transcript or GED equivalency Strong written and verbal communication skills Previous experience working with children in varied settings; preferred Working knowledge of behavior management procedures; preferred Knowledge of accommodations for special education students; preferred Clean Criminal Background, Child Protective Registry Check, and TB test results required prior to employment
Responsibilities:
Utilize knowledge of the social, emotional, medical, and academic needs of individual students obtained through collaboration with teacher and/or specialist Collaborate with the teacher, paraprofessionals and/or related services providers about the plans and implementation of activities and resources for the students Understand and implement the student's IEP (Individual Education Program) goals and objectives, as well as any accommodations to ensure the student's success Work with students in variety of ways, which may include an individual, small group, or whole group settings Assist in ongoing monitoring of student progress which may include assessments, data collection and computer work Support in maintaining student discipline using behavior management plan as directed by classroom teacher Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature of the position and are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of job functions.
