Job Description
Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a rewarding impact by providing dedicated paraprofessional support to middle school students on the autism spectrum and those with complex learning needs. This is a full-time, onsite contract position serving the BRIDGES program, where you'll collaborate closely with a supportive team. Your role focuses on assisting a female student, working alongside skilled nurses who handle primary feeding and toileting, though you must be comfortable performing these tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Hold a valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit (not pending; attach screenshot from DEEDS portal if recently issued) Demonstrated paraprofessional experience, ideally supporting students with autism and complex learning needs Commitment to maintaining student dignity and privacy, especially regarding feeding and toileting responsibilities Willingness to complete and pay for $85 CBC fingerprinting prior to starting Ability to work effectively in close partnership with nurses and school staff For RBT-certified candidates: Be aware district does not provide BCBA supervision; certification maintenance outside school hours onlyDaily Responsibilities:
Provide instructional and behavioral support in classroom and individual settings Ensure student safety, comfort, and engagement throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and medical staff on student support plans Assist as needed with feeding and toileting tasks Document activities and observations as required Uphold professional standards and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment This opportunity offers consistent weekday hours (M-F, 35 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), aligned with the middle school schedule of 8:05am-2:55pm.
