Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity as a Paraprofessional supporting elementary students near New Castle, DE. This onsite role spans from now through June 2027, offering the chance to provide critical assistance within a dynamic educational setting. Initial responsibilities will focus on supporting 2nd and 3rd grade students, with a planned transition to working with kindergarten and 1st grade learners during the assignment. Workdays are Monday through Friday, with a total of 35 hours per week and a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit in hand (required at the time of application) Experience working in an elementary school setting desired Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students and staff Comfortable adapting to changing classroom assignments and student needs Willingness to obtain CBC fingerprinting, at personal expense
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver paraprofessional support under the guidance of classroom teachers, focusing initially on 2nd and 3rd graders before transitioning to a K-1 classroom Engage with students both in small groups and individually to ensure effective learning and participation Assist with classroom management, reinforcing expectations and routines Support teachers with instructional materials and classroom activities Maintain accurate records and follow district protocols for confidentiality and student safety
Important Notes:
This position does not recognize Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credentials for supervision or compensation. Active RBTs must arrange their own supervision outside of school hours to maintain certification. Required documentation includes a current DE para permit and resume.
