Background Helping Up Mission, Inc. is a faith-based, non-denominational, Christian organization offering permanent solutions to those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Helping Up Mission, Inc. (HUM) provides hope through programs designed to meet their individual physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Compassionate and substantial residential care is given to almost 550 men and 250 women in need, without consideration of race, economic or religious status at its campus in East Baltimore. HUM provides competitive pay and benefits. Gateway South Women's Shelter is located in Bradenton, Florida, and is a low-barrier, no-cost, women's shelter. The night-by-night shelter houses up to 40 women in Manatee County nightly. Job Summary Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Program Assistant will provide support for program operations on weekends and/or weekdays. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, supportive housing environment for the residents of the Under One Roof Gateway Womens Shelter. Primary Duties The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Monitoring the clients movements during residency at Helping Up Mission Gateway South. Instruct and monitor clients on all policies and procedures for residents including schedules, chores, and medication distribution. Advocate for the clients. Prepare daily reports for management, including but not limited to daily bed charts, shift notes, and medication logs for individual clients. Complete any tasks as directed by previous shift, including but not limited to general housekeeping, dorm room turnover, client orientation, intake procedures, and house laundry. Assist clients during intake process. Gather and distribute any initial provisions, such as towels, clothing and toiletries. Assist with client orientation by giving tours of property and helping with schedules. Maintain shift notes and incident reports. Contact emergency personnel, as needed. Maintain professional, orderly atmosphere in all areas of property. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Exhibit the Core Values of Helping Up Mission, Inc. Proficient in computer usage, particularly Microsoft products. Strong analytic, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner. Addiction and recovery knowledge and/or applicable life experience (minimum 1-year sustained recovery (if applicant has life experience)) preferred.
Salary Range :
$16.00/ hourly
