In person Join Our Growing Team! Whiz Kids Academy - Pelican is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team! As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for preschool-aged children. You will help implement age-appropriate learning activities, support children's development, and prepare young learners for a successful transition to kindergarten. Responsibilities Assist the Lead Teacher with implementing the curriculum and daily lesson plans. Help create a warm, safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Support children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development through engaging, hands-on activities. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and transitions. Assist with classroom routines, activities, and behavior guidance. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom. Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers. Observe children's development and provide support based on individual needs. Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, and team members. Assist with attendance, classroom documentation, daily reports, and other records as needed. Follow all Florida childcare licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and company policies. Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff to provide a high-quality learning experience. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Florida 45-Hour DCF Child Care Training completed — Required. Professional English communication skills. A positive attitude and genuine passion for working with preschool-aged children. Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. Previous experience working with preschool or VPK-aged children preferred. At least 1 year of experience in childcare, preschool, teaching, or early childhood education preferred. Preferred Qualifications Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or higher in Early Childhood Education. CPR/First Aid Certification. Knowledge of Florida Early Learning Standards and VPK requirements. Previous VPK or Pre-K classroom experience.
