A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

They nurture close and caring relationships with students and families, relishing their role as "guides on the side," working collaboratively with Faculty to help each student meet their great potential.
RESPONSIBILITIES SJEDS
Assistant Teachers Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classroom activities and lessons. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to support student learning and reinforce classroom concepts. Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch and escort and monitor students as they move around campus Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Prepare and organize instructional materials, classroom resources, and educational displays. Communicate professionally with teachers, staff, parents, and administrators regarding student needs and classroom activities. Assist with clerical duties, including attendance records, filing, copying, and data entry. Enforce school policies and procedures to ensure student safety and well-being. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required Practice discretion and confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS SJEDS
Faculty members May, but are not required to have an Associate's degree, a Bachelor's degree, advanced coursework or certifications in Education or a related field Experience working with students in an Educational setting Strong oral communication skills Strong collaboration skills Strong cultural competencies Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school day Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check within the state Clearinghouse (https://info.flclearinghouse.com) San Jose Episcopal Day School is an equal opportunity employer.
