Job Description

The First Academy is seeking a devoted Lower School Teacher Assistant who views supporting elementary-aged learners as both a professional service and a spiritual calling. In this vital role, the candidate will provide essential short- and long-term classroom support, partnering with lead teachers to facilitate a seamless, nurturing, and high-achieving learning environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive, flexible professional who is passionate about building a firm foundation for students—socially, physically, and academically. This is a full-time, hourly position structured over a 10-month schedule aligned with the school calendar year.
Essential Job Functions Instructional Continuity:
Facilitate daily classroom instruction when lead teachers are absent.
Effective Lesson Delivery:
Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials in a manner that facilitates active learning. This involves the effective use of content presentation, questioning techniques, and the arrangement of learning activities to respond to learner input.
Classroom Management:
Assist in maintaining an orderly, positive, and nurturing classroom environment. You will support discipline procedures and model effective teacher/parent partnering through timely communication regarding student learning and assignments.
Differentiated Support:
Partner with lead teachers to work with students in small groups, providing targeted assistance to enhance student understanding and engagement.
Administrative Assistance:
Provide essential support to the teaching staff through prep work, including copying materials, organizing resources, and other classroom preparation tasks.
Operational Flexibility:
Provide coverage and support for other vital Lower School functions as needed, such as serving as the Front Desk Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, and assisting with other duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications Preferred Education:
Possess an Associate's or higher degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Prior experience working in an early childhood or elementary school classroom setting is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a genuine love for working with children and a desire to see them flourish.
Communication Skills:
Possess solid, professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues. This includes the ability to present complex information clearly and engage in constructive dialogue.
Organizational Skills:
Exhibit strong organizational skills, including efficient time management, meticulous record-keeping, and the ability to finish tasks in a timely manner and manage multiple classroom responsibilities simultaneously.
Collaboration:
Proven ability to effectively partner and collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents to support the holistic development of students.
Confidentiality:
Absolute ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to all sensitive school, student, and personnel matters, adhering to ethical and legal standards.
Work Ethic:
Demonstrate a strong work ethic, professionalism, reliability, and punctuality.
Educational Technology:
Experienced with using technology in a classroom environment to support instruction and administrative tasks, with a specific preference for Apple products and hardware.
Subject Expertise:
Degree emphasis in the area of instruction or a directly related field is strongly preferred.
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
