POSITION

Assistant Infant / Toddler Teacher Collage Day School is a dynamic, independent private day school in the beautiful Palm Valley area of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The school serves students from infancy through elementary and is nestled on eight acres with winding nature trails and serene ponds. We provide students with a safe and engaging environment that fosters not just their love of learning but also their eagerness to explore and understand the world around them. PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and Director in providing a safe, nurturing, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. The role focuses on helping children develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, verbally, and physically while maintaining health, safety, and family engagement standards. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The Assistant Teacher works an 8-hour shift between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom & Education Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities and lesson plans. Support children's cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical development. Help conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain documentation. Create and maintain an engaging learning environment. Support children of varying developmental levels, including those with special needs. Health & Safety Conduct daily health checks. Promote healthy lifestyle activities. Follow policies related to medical emergencies, medication administration, and child exclusions. Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards. Ensure a safe environment and injury prevention practices. Assists children with toileting needs in a manner that promotes independence, dignity, and self-help skills. Performs diapering procedures in accordance with licensing regulations, health and sanitation standards, and center policies. Maintains accurate diapering and toileting records as required. Assists in implementing potty-training plans in partnership with families and under the guidance of the lead teacher. Ensures diapering and toileting areas are clean, sanitized, and properly stocked at all times. Observes and reports any concerns related to a child's health, toileting habits, or developmental readiness for potty training to the lead teacher and/or director. Nutrition Eat meals with children and model healthy eating habits. Encourage positive social interaction during mealtimes. Follows infants'/toddlers' individual feeding schedules and holds infants who cannot sit independently while feeding. Family Engagement Attend parent meetings as assigned. Assist with communicating children's progress to families. Support family involvement activities and events. Physical Requirements Regular standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting. Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds. Requires close and distance vision and focus adjustment. Must be able to lift infants and young children, assist children with diapering and toileting routines, and frequently bend, squat, kneel, and sit on the floor while interacting with children Professional Development Participate in training and workshops. Complete at least 35 hours of annual in-service training.

SALARY/BENEFITS

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

High school diploma or higher required Completion of Infant & Child First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to complete within 6 months of hire DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training started within 30 days of employment or completed 45 hours of DCF training Previous childcare experience and knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children from birth to age 5 a plus.
