We are looking for an energetic, reliable, athletic, and highly coachable individual to assist with player training and day-to-day coaching sessions at HyperSk8 Tampa - a hockey training facility. You will be actively involved with youth athletes during training sessions. Initially, the position will focus primarily on the athletic performance and dryland side of our program . The right candidate will then be trained in our skating treadmill system and player-development methodology. You do not need to already be an expert hockey skating coach. We are more interested in finding someone who: Connects well with young athletes Has an athletic or fitness background Can command a group while maintaining a positive environment Is dependable and professional Wants to learn Takes coaching and feedback well Has the potential to grow into a larger coaching role Hockey experience is a plus, but it is not required for the right candidate.
Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with youth hockey training sessions Leading warm-ups and athletic movement exercises Running dryland, agility, coordination, stickhandling, and shooting stations Helping organize and manage small groups of athletes Demonstrating exercises and correcting basic technique Keeping athletes engaged, focused, and moving Setting up and resetting training stations and equipment Assisting with filming and basic player assessment Maintaining a clean, professional training environment Learning HyperSk8's player-development system Progressively learning our skating treadmill safety procedures and coaching methods As you develop, you may be trained to independently coach treadmill sessions and eventually run complete HyperSk8 training sessions. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate may have a background in: Strength and conditioning Personal training Exercise science Kinesiology Sports performance Hockey College athletics Coaching Physical education Athletic training College students studying exercise science, kinesiology, sports management, physical education, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Primarily mornings We would initially expect approximately 2-3 days per week , with the potential to increase hours and responsibility over time. Availability during evenings and at least some weekends is important. Compensation & Growth Starting training rate: $15/hour This position is designed for someone who wants to learn, develop, and take on more responsibility over time. Compensation can increase as you demonstrate reliability, learn the HyperSk8 system, and become capable of independently coaching athletes. A typical progression could look like: Training / Assistant Coach — $15/hour Assist with sessions, learn our systems, lead basic warm-ups and dryland stations, and develop coaching skills. Performance Coach — approximately $17-$20/hour Independently lead dryland, athletic performance, stickhandling, and shooting stations. Skating Treadmill Coach — approximately $20-$25/hour Become fully trained in our treadmill system and independently coach skating sessions. Advanced HyperSk8 Coach — $25+/hour Run complete sessions independently and take on greater responsibility within the business. Pay increases are based on ability, responsibility, reliability, experience, and performance. For the right person, this could grow into a much larger role as HyperSk8 expands.
