Job Description
Job Overview Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Assistant Teacher, where your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a fun, safe, and enriching environment for children. In this role, you will support lead teachers in implementing engaging activities, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring each child's developmental needs are met. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with children while fostering their growth through creative play, educational activities, and positive guidance. Your energy and commitment will inspire young learners and contribute to a memorable summer experience for all. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in planning and executing daily camp activities that promote learning, creativity, and physical activity. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and implementing behavior management strategies. Ensure the safety of all children by supervising activities closely and responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns. Help facilitate inclusive activities tailored to children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education support. Maintain a clean and organized environment, including setting up materials and assisting with snack or meal times. Engage children in age-appropriate educational games, sports coaching, arts and crafts, theater performances, or other camp programs. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to foster a supportive and collaborative atmosphere. Requirements Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, babysitting, or early childhood education is preferred. Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already held. Strong understanding of childhood development principles and special education needs is a plus. Ability to work actively outdoors and indoors for extended periods while maintaining high energy levels. Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude that encourages teamwork and child engagement. Passion for working with children of all backgrounds and abilities; experience in Christian counseling or working with students is beneficial.
