LOCATION(S): Hamilton Crossing ES

Provides instructional assistance in classroom. Assists in the evaluation of student needs and in the preparation of appropriate materials and lessons in collaboration with certified personnel. Maintains discipline in the classroom. Assists teacher with preparation of materials for instruction within the content limitations of system curriculum guides. Helps the teacher implement a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assists the teacher with school-wide supervision, such as hallways, lunchrooms, and loading/unloading buses. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. Perform other duties as requested and required.

Education, Certification or Training:

High school diploma or GED. Must hold or be eligible to hold a Georgia Paraprofessional License through the Georgia Processional Standards Commission.

Skills:

Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters. Physical demands

• must be able to stand and walk a minimum of six hours; lift, carry and pull 25 pounds and up to 150 pounds.

Ability and knowledge to work as part of a classroom team to support student/classroom learning and activities. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
