Job Summary About Little Sprouts Montessori School Little Sprouts Montessori School is a boutique, nurturing in-home Montessori program located in Decatur, Georgia. We are dedicated to providing a prepared environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning for young children. We follow authentic Montessori principles, honoring each child's individual developmental pace and offering a peaceful, warm community atmosphere. Position Overview We are seeking a warm, patient, and reliable Assistant Teacher to support our Lead Guide in maintaining a prepared environment and guiding children through their daily routines. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for early childhood education, a gentle and respectful communication style, and a strong alignment with Montessori philosophy.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Support:
Assist the Lead Guide in preparing, organizing, and maintaining the Montessori environment and materials.
Child Guidance:
Support children during work periods, group times, outdoor play, meals, and transitions, encouraging independence and self-regulation.
Observation:
Help observe children's interests, progress, and social interactions to support individualized learning plans.
Environment Care:
Ensure the classroom and outdoor spaces remain clean, safe, orderly, and well-sanitized throughout the day.
Communication:
Maintain professional, positive relationships with parents and families, assisting with daily updates as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Previous experience working with young children (ages 0-6) in a preschool, daycare, or Montessori setting is strongly preferred.
Education:
High school diploma required; coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Montessori Assistant Training Certificate is a plus.
Philosophy:
A foundational understanding of or deep willingness to learn Montessori principles (respect for the child, independence, and prepared environments).
Personal Attributes:
Warm, patient, energetic, highly dependable, and possessing a gentle demeanor.
Certifications:
Must be able to pass a background check and hold (or be willing to obtain) CPR/First Aid certification. What We Offer Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
