We are hiring for two roles with the same qualifications and requirements:
Assistant Teacher:
Assigned to a consistent classroom and works closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily routines, learning activities, classroom management, and the care and development of the children.
Floating Teacher:
Supports multiple classrooms throughout the school based on daily staffing and classroom needs. This position is ideal for someone who is flexible, adaptable, and enjoys working with different age groups and teaching teams. What You'll Do Provide attentive, nurturing, and safe care for children. Engage children in developmentally appropriate learning and play. Support activities based on Creative Curriculum and Smarties Academy's philosophy. Follow classroom routines, schedules, and safety procedures. Use positive guidance and redirection techniques. Maintain clean, organized, and safe classrooms and playground areas. Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Use Brightwheel for required classroom documentation and communication. Follow Smarties Academy policies and Georgia Bright from the Start childcare regulations. Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers, Team Leads, and Administration and be receptive to coaching and feedback. Assistant Teachers will also learn the full operation of their assigned classroom, assist with planning and child assessments, and assume day-to-day classroom responsibilities when the Lead Teacher is absent. Floating Teachers will move between classrooms as needed and may also assist with playground preparation, classroom materials, school events, organization, decorating, and other school-wide needs. Requirements Bilingual in Spanish and English Must successfully complete a Bright from the Start Comprehensive Background Check Effective communication and teamwork skills Basic computer/app skills; experience with Brightwheel is a plus Dependable, flexible, professional, and comfortable working as part of a team Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children, including lifting up to 35 lbs., bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting on the floor, placing children on changing tables, and pushing strollers Willingness to complete and maintain all required childcare training and certifications Required Training- to complete within a month of hire Employees must maintain required Georgia childcare training, including: Health & Safety Training Pediatric/Child CPR and First Aid Fire Safety Training Annual continuing education requirements Knowledge of Bright from the Start childcare regulations About Smarties Academy Smarties Academy is a full Spanish immersion childcare program serving children from infancy through Pre-K. Our approach combines Creative Curriculum with hands-on, play-based learning in a nurturing environment that supports children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
