PEC Paraprofessional
•Jeffersonville Elementary School
Twiggs County Public Schools is accepting applications for a PEC Paraprofessional at Jeffersonville Elementary School. The successful candidate must be able to provide individual and small-group support as required by students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), in addition to meeting all certification requirements for paraprofessionals in the State of Georgia.
The opening and closing dates of this posting represent the estimated timeframe needed to solicit applications for the position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Assists the teacher in the preparation of educational and instructional materials for students.
Works individually with students and/or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives and provide support as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Assists students with academic, behavioral, social, and functional needs as directed by the teacher and/or appropriate PEC staff.
Assists with all aspects of the daily classroom routine, including distributing and collecting materials and supplies, maintaining appropriate records, and assisting with classroom activities.
Participates in lunchroom, recess, hallway, arrival, dismissal, and bus duties as assigned.
Assists with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards, learning centers, and other classroom areas used for instruction.
Assists with classroom management and the implementation of appropriate behavioral supports.
Maintains confidentiality of student information in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Works cooperatively with teachers, administrators, PEC staff, and other school personnel to support student success.
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Level:
High school diploma or GED required. Must meet Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) requirements for paraprofessional certification.
Experience:
Previous classroom experience and/or demonstrated ability to work effectively with children preferred.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate in accordance with GaPSC requirements.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work effectively with students individually and in small-group settings.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and district matters.
Ability to demonstrate patience, professionalism, dependability, and flexibility.
Ability to provide appropriate support to students based on individual needs and assigned responsibilities.
