Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Employment experience working with children, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill job duties.
General Summary:
Assist the classroom teacher with instruction of students and daily classroom management at one of the agency's alternative programs. Essential Functions ℜsponsibilities: Provides learning applications to students after initial instruction has been provided by the classroom teacher, including implementing instructional objectives and behavior management strategies; reviews student background history and information pertinent to classroom setting; provides supervision to students during other activities as designated by classroom teacher. Communicates effectively with students, school district staff, Agency staff, and detention center or correctional facility staff as applicable; communicates ideas to students in a positive manner; communicates student attitudes, behaviors, and instructional progress to appropriate personnel. Maintains daily student records including attendance; records any questions, comments, or changes in student status; compiles other forms as directed by the teacher; may be asked to grade papers. Attends meetings as required. Organizes and cleans classroom at the end of the day; maintains equipment in workable order. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Regular attendance is required. Ability to travel within assigned schools Ability to work flexible hours, including minimal evenings and weekends Requires good eye/hand/finger coordination to keyboard and to operate office machines. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Good concentration and visual skills required. Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can't always be anticipated.
