QUALIFICATIONS
: High School diploma Demonstrated competence in tasks assigned preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO
: Certified Special Education Personnel and Building Principal
JOB GOAL
: To assist the special education teacher and general education teachers in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with tasks associated with the assigned student(s) curriculum Provides physical assistance for the assigned student(s) if indicated Monitors and/or accompanies the assigned student(s) as needed Establishes a supportive relationship with the assigned student(s) Serves as a resource person for the assigned student(s) evaluation team Assists with clerical tasks associated with the assigned student(s) Collaborate with other staff members, including special education teachers, therapists, and support staff, to meet the needs of all students. Support students with special needs or accommodations as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Use strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors and ensure a safe environment for all students. Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education. Support students in participating in general education classrooms and activities, promoting an inclusive environment. Encourage and reinforce positive behaviors and social interactions. Perform other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten month year. Salary established by the Board.
