Job Description
The Program Assistant will perform a wide variety of functions in the area of recreation programs. Work includes helping guide participants to meet recreation program goals, enforcing facility and or program policies and rules and working with other staff members to assist participants. Prepares the location by transporting needed equipment, cleaning or sweeping as needed and surveying the facility to ensure a safe environment prior to program start. Communicates with and supports the volunteer coaches and other staff on program goals. Assists in program activities and supports participants and other staff. Takes attendance sheets, fills out incident and accident reports as needed. Assists supervisor in scheduling and evaluating program and volunteers. Handles public concerns, problems or suggestions in a calm and professional manner. Helps promote future recreation programs by handing out flyers or information as needed. Cleans up after program and transports program materials and/or equipment back to the Grimes Community Complex (GCC) or storage area. Performs other duties as assigned.
Periodic Responsibilities :
Ability to supervise and interact with program participants, capable of working on the computer as needed to print signs or other informational material, and knowledge of safety precautions and regulations regarding recreation programs. Education/Experience At least 14 years of age or older. Experiences working with kids and adults required. Licenses/Certifications CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is recommended. Knowledge and Skills Reasoning ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format. Proficiency with keyboarding and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, email, databases, and internet research. Light work exerting up to 50lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move and set-up equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to have access to various work sites throughout the City and out of the area. Ability to stand or sit, walk, use hand/fingers to handle or feel, talk/hear, see and repetitive motion. Occasional bending, twisting, turning, and squatting in implementing, setting up and leading activities and/or programs. Majority of work is outdoor with heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. Standard work hours include after 5pm and done by 9pm during the week and 4-6 hour shifts on the weekends as program dictates. Must pass criminal background check.Similar remote jobs
