Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional Aide to support students with diverse learning needs within our educational community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of childhood development, classroom management, and behavior support strategies, particularly in special education settings. This role involves providing direct assistance to students with disabilities, facilitating inclusive learning environments, and collaborating closely with educators and specialists to promote student success. Duties Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' specific needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities/Behavior Issues. Provide behavioral management support by applying positive reinforcement techniques and behavior intervention strategies to promote appropriate social and academic behaviors. Support students with physical assistance requirements, including mobility, toileting, and other daily living activities, ensuring safety and dignity at all times. Collaborate effectively with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to deliver comprehensive student support. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information in accordance with legal standards such as FERPA and district policies. Requirements Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, particularly those with disabilities or special education needs preferred. Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders support strategies and behavior management techniques for students with behavioral disorders preferred. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special needs is highly desirable. Proficiency in basic math skills, literacy education, and curriculum support tailored for young learners. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and strong writing skills are also important for documentation purposes. Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team environment while maintaining professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information. Certification or training related to special education paraprofessional roles is preferred but not mandatory; ongoing professional development in behavior management or autism support is advantageous.
