Job Description

JOB GOAL
Aid in providing for a well organized and smoothly functioning environment in which developmentally delayed students can take advantage of programs and resource materials to the best of their ability. Responsibilities Assist teachers in implementing educational programs and individualized lesson plans for students with special needs. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students in various subjects and activities. Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Support students in developing social skills and managing behavioral challenges. Assist with classroom management and maintain a positive learning atmosphere. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration. Requirements Requires an AA degree or successfully completed the Idaho Paraprofessional Exam. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. Patience and empathy, along with a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning needs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Basic knowledge of special education practices and principles is helpful. Must pass background checks, comply with school district policies and be willing to complete training in CPI at the first availability offered by the district. This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411. Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
